Coaching FAQs

Why consider Coaching?

As a company, is this your reality?

  • You have new leaders that need to be trained and developed.
  • You have a leader who is struggling in their role.
  • You’re growing and need everyone to keep rowing in the same direction.
  • Your leaders have undergone several formal leadership programs before, but there hasn’t been an “organizational lift.”
  • You need more from your leaders, and you need to invest in them.

As an individual, is this your reality?

  • I’m struggling and stressed at work and need help navigating through.
  • I’m doing well at work and want to reach the next level.
  • I’m a leader, and many people come to me for support, but I need support, too.
  • It’s time to focus on me. I want to make some changes.
  • I can’t seem to get what I want and don’t know why.
What is Coaching?

Coaching is a structured process to help you achieve your goals through guidance, support, challenge, and accountability. The coach is a personal guide and accountability partner for the individual and the organization.

Why engage a Coach?

A coach is a dedicated resource to help you achieve your goals. The relationship established with the coach allows the individual to be vulnerable (maybe for the first time) because being vulnerable in coaching, has no negative repercussions or consequences. Challenges can be resolved in a safe, risk-free, supportive environment.

And there are significant benefits for the organization, too. Your business results are directly tied to your people. The more effective leaders are, the more effective their teams will be, and the more effective teams are, the more influential the organization will be.

How is Doing HR Differently Coaching different?

For leaders – We can combine leadership training and coaching for an immersive, personal learning experience. This is needed to help leaders transform knowledge into learning and skills into disciplined habits. Our Core leadership program focused on key leadership roles every leader plays. We also provide custom coaching based on specific needs.

For individuals – Our coaching is customized to the individual’s needs.

Is Coaching confidential?

Yes. It is essential to build a trusting environment so the leader can feel safe to share and explore options without negative consequences. Confidentiality is critical to building a trusting relationship.

How does Coaching work?

Here’s the typical process:

For a Corporate client:

  • Free consultation to understand if our coaching program is the right choice. 30 mins.
  • Coaching Alignment Meeting – A virtual or in-person meeting with the Sponsor to understand the issues and goals and establish a check-in schedule. About 1 hr.
  • Initial Coaching Meeting – A virtual or in-person meeting with the coachee to get to know each other, discuss the coaching process, the goals they want to achieve, and how we’ll work together—about 1.5 hrs.
  • Set up a cadence of accountability meetings (weekly or bi-weekly)—about 1 hr.
  • Each session involves discussion, challenges, resources, and homework (yes, homework!). Individuals must dig deep and work hard to overcome hurdles to achieve their goals.

For an Individual Client:

  • A free consultation is available to determine if coaching is right for you. 30 mins.
  • Initial Coaching Meeting – Virtual or in-person to get to know each other and discuss what you want to accomplish, how coaching works, and how we’ll work together. About 1.5 hrs.
  • Set up a cadence of accountability meetings (weekly or bi-weekly)—about 1 hr.
  • Each session involves discussion, challenges, resources, and homework (yes, homework!). You should expect to work hard to overcome hurdles to achieve your goals.
  • You can expect your coach to guide, challenge, support you, and celebrate your wins along the way!
Who typically pays for Coaching?

It depends on who the client is.

If you work for a company, this can be part of your development plan as an individual or a team. In this case, the client is the company.

You can also choose to pay for coaching yourself. In this case, you are the client.

What’s the difference?

When your company pays for coaching, your coaching sessions are still confidential, but some level of reporting goes back to the company about your progress and how to support you. The company may want to set the goals for or with you. If the company is paying, you should also expect company support for your professional development and coaching support.

When you pay for coaching directly, your information is confidential. Information is not shared with your company.

From a coaching standpoint, you will get the same level of guidance, support, and challenge, no matter who the client is.

A Word of Advice: If growing professionally or getting support to achieve your goals is important, go for it even if your company doesn’t agree to pay for coaching. This is an investment in yourself, and you can never go wrong when you invest in yourself!

What does it take for Coaching to be successful?

Accountability, not excuses. There must be a real commitment of both time and resolve to do the work needed to achieve theyour goalshis includes meeting regularly, being honest, being open to feedback, and doing the homework.

From the organization: Alignment. Support. Integration. Commitment. Time. Accountability

From the individual: Alignment. Honesty. Risk Taking. Commitment. Time. Accountability.

Real transformation takes time. We prefer to work with clients for at least 12 sessions which can be between 3 months – 6 months, depending on the cadence of meetings. We also have a Mini-Session (1 topic) for four sessions.

What does Coaching cost?

Coaching is an investment of both time and money. Our Coaching packages run from $800-$5,000. Don’t let the cost scare you away! This is an investment, and achieving results is PRICELESS!

If Coaching isn’t working for me, can I get a refund?

Yes. We want you to make the right decision for you, so before we enter into a coacoaching agreement, we’ll have the needed conversations with you to make a well-informed decision.
